Is Seasonal Hair Loss a Real Thing?

The changing seasons can bring on many changes in your health, including fatigue, seasonal depression, irritability, and colds. One of the more bothersome changes is seasonal hair loss. While it is normal to shed around 100 hairs a day, the loss of more hair can feel alarming.

A few things you can do if you feel you are losing hair for any reason:

  • Request a blood test specifically for alopecia (will determine if you have and what type)
  • Boost natural vitamin intake through your daily diet (sans allergies) – berries, avocado, citrus fruit, spinach, sweet potato, bell peppers
  • Take it easy on your scalp – use chemical-free shampoos/conditioners or “made for sensitive” such as Vanicream “Free & Clear,” Bioderma Nodé and La Roche-Posay Kerium DS or Kerium Extra-Gentle lines.
  • Warm water is best – no hot water directly to the top of your head when showering!
  • Use wide-tooth combs and/or natural bristle hair brushes.
  • Take it easy with the towel. Rubbing your head to dry your hair feels great however, just like your facial skin, hair and scalp do not appreciate it. Baby new hairs are super fragile; be gentle.
  • Book PRP sessions. Platelet Rich Plasma is extracted from your blood draw and reintroduced strategically to your scalp. An initial treatment series at IT Intelligent Treatment consists of once monthly treatment for four treatments.
